06/06/2024 - DAY 1Gazi Husrev-bey Library in Sarajevo is the first library whose exact date of establishment is known.
The Gazi Husrev-bey Library is a public library in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina founded in 1537 by Gazi Husrev-bey. It holds one of the most important collections of Islamic manuscripts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including many originally donated by Gazi Husrev-bey. The collection survived through Bosnian war and Siege of Sarajevo. As part of the larger complex of Gazi Husrev-begova Medresa, the library facilities are part of the National Monument designation. Gazi Husrev-bey Library is located in the heart of Old Town, at 46 gazi Husrev-bey Street, where a superb building was constructed specifically for this purpose. Gazi Husrev-bey Library currently holds around one hundred thousand units including over 10.500 codices of manuscripts in Arabic, Turkish, Persian and Bosnian languages, around 9 and 10 thousands individual documents in Ottoman Turkish language, approximately 21.000 printed books in Oriental languages and over 30.000 in European languages, as well as rich collection of periodicals from the end of 19th century to the contemporary magazines that are being published in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the world. The Library also has a valuable museum collection and collection of photographs and postage stamps.

Faculty of Traffic and Communications was founded in 1977 and since then it has gained the status of a leading educational and scientific institution in the fields of traffic and transport engineering and information and communication technologies. The process of education is designed so that students, in addition to theoretical, acquire practical knowledge through practical classes in laboratories, field research and mandatory professional practice. Students have the opportunity to participate in research and development projects, as well as international programs of strategic interest to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Quality, innovation, flexibility and compliance with the needs and requirements of sustainable development of the transport and communication system characterize the curriculum.
Alignment with market trends and new challenges of inclusion in the European educational and scientific research system is reflected in the continuous and systematic work of the Faculty on improving all areas of quality assurance, connecting efficiency in the educational process, scientific and professional activities, and building and improving internal organization.

Gazi Husrev Beg Mosque

The Gazi Husrev Beg Mosque is the largest Mosque in Sarajevo and is the center of what is commonly known as the Gazi Husrev Beg complex, a number of buildings which together make up the center of the Ottoman settlement in Sarajevo. In 1530, with his own money, Gazi Husrev Beg, triple Bosnian Steward and Builder, with his own money, built the most monumental building of Islamic culture in B&H.

The Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos is the largest Serbian Orthodox church in Sarajevo and one of the largest in the Balkans.

Sacred Heart Cathedral

The Sacred Heart Cathedral in Sarajevo is one of the most important religious buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina and It is the seat of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna. It was built in 1889 in the neo-Gothic style.
